TECH TOOLBOX PLC For k-12 Social studies and science leaders

ALL sessions will be held at csra resa in dearing, georgia from 9:00AM-3:30PM.

The Tech Toolbox workshops are targeted for the Social Studies Leaders PLC and Science Leaders PLC. Throughout the 2019-2020 school year, the Tech Toolbox for Social Studies and Science workshops will focus on a particular instructional technology tool or method to enhance literacy, inquiry, and collaboration in the content area classrooms. Participants are asked to attend a minimum of 3 workshops including the final session on March 19. Each session will be split into two parts. Each session, participants will be provided active learning sessions on a particular instructional technology tool. Participants will have time built into the workshop to begin planning a mini-lesson for their classes using the instructional technology tool or method presented. The final session, on March 19, 2020, will be dedicated participants sharing how they used technology in their classrooms during the year.

In both of our Google Sessions you will learn about and practice using: Google Classroom, Google Drawings, Google Forms, Google Arts and Culture, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Flipgrid, TourCreator, BookCreator, and more!

Social Studies and Science teachers will have breakout sessions: Google MyMaps/ZeeMaps and Google Science Journal.

Session 3: GPB/Discovery Education and Virtual Field Trips in Social Studies and Science

Take students to places they have never been with Virtual field trips and virtual reality! Georgia public broadcasting along with discovery education will bring you *all new* training on their platforms and lessons aligned with georgia standards! this hands-on workshop will give you experience on each platform, with virtual field trips, and free interactive/digital lessons to use with your students! (Please make sure you set up your GPB and DE accounts prior to this session, contact crystal for help).

Session 4: Skype and Cell Phone Apps for Social Studies and Science

In our fourth session, you will learn how to use skype to connect your students to experts and other classrooms across the world! social studies teachers can connect with classrooms in the different countries that they teach to help students learn about history and culture. Skype also provides virtual field trips. science teachers can connect their students to scientists or classrooms doing a similar lab to compare results.

This session will also give teachers time to learn about variety of cell phone apps. Teachers in schools with "bring-your-own-technology" will certainly benefit in understanding how to utilize cell phones outside of common apps like Kahoot!

Session 5: Hyperdocs, Podcasts, and Blogging for Social Studies and Science

February 20, 2020

Session 5 will be dedicated to incorporating writing skills and digital literacy skills into the classroom. Social Studies and Science students alike need to write reports, interview, reviews, summaries, etc. in order to express their understanding. These tools will help you involve your students in 21st-century digital literacy skills while also enhancing your content! Be prepared to learn about how to create and use one of these platforms in your classroom and how they can transform your ideas about homework and collaborative classwork!

Tech Toolbox Showcase!
